Becky: The Heartbreaking Story of Becky Watts by Her Father Darren Galsworthy
This is the heartbreaking story of the murder of 16-year-old Bristol schoolgirl Becky Watts, a personal and heartfelt account of a crime that shocked the nation in a unique way and tore a family in two.
A vulnerable and shy girl, Becky Watts was brutally murdered and dismembered by her own step-brother on 19 February 2015. As her father Darren discovered the horrific detail...more
…moreIt's hard to say. I understand why she still loves her son but think she doesn't like him very much! I say she has gone to see Nathan because she
desperately wants "why" answers..(less)
I would have cried through the middle of this book if it had been a work of fiction, but knowing it's a true account of senseless tragedy is especially gut-wrenching.
While the first part seemed a little too good to be true in certain accounts of magical family bliss at times, the love for the family was always there. The father didn't have an aim of being a writer who pens a tale for attention or literary merit, but to be heard in the midst of his grief and as a tool to help heal and distrac ...more

I remember when this actually happened and my heart literally went out to the Galsworthy family. To have a young persons life taken away is impossible to come to terms with, but then to find out that your daughter was murdered by your stepson and his partner is beyond words, and in such an evil and calculated way too. This book had me in tears but I just had to read it. Mr Galsworthy goes into great detail from Bex being born, growing up, her anorexia problems, gaining ...more
I was fascinated by this book as it is a account of what happened to Becky thru the eyes of her Father. Sadly, it also reveals situations where as a Darren dropped the ball. Especially in how he dealt with his daughter being bullied in school and by Nathan. He so much wanted a happy family that he ignored the things he should have done more to protect his daughter. I would never make a child continue to attend a school where they are being bullie ...more
I'm not sure why I decided to read this book the cover and title appealed to me. I'm a true crime reader, I like so many others find it interesting to get into the mind of those that kill or have dealt with a killer.
This story brings to life the many details of this case. While there is no reason as to why this crime happened you do finish the book with an understanding and an acceptance. The punishment shall fit the crime has always been my belief, yet crimes, courts, and pu ...more

I cried during this book, this poor girls life was cut short by two twisted individuals. The fear and pain she must have been in. I can only imagine the horror that her family must have felt knowing that she died the way she did and going through the journey to find her justice. The descriptions that Becky's father gives during this book are so vivid, you can almost imagine being there with them as they walk in to view her body after the pieces had been put bac ...more
This book really grabs you from the beginning. It had to be hard for the father to write and it probably took him a while to get his feelings together. This book shows how a so-called loving family, can turn so evil with one person. While reading this book I think my feelings were more into family, than treating it like a book. I had too many emotions into it. Overall, if you are a true crime reader, this is a book that will make you think about f ...more
Every word written felt as if I was along side Darren and Anjie. Although I cannot fathom the heartache they endured, I empathize with them, as parents and as soul mates, the anguish they felt when their lives changed forever. As justice prevailed, my hope is that Darren, Anjie, and Danny (and all other family and friends) get the answers they so deserve. The pain will never go away, just gets a little easier to deal with as the years go on. Bless the Galsworthy family. And rest peacefully s ...more
This brief review can not do justice for what this family has been through. The realization that there truly was a monster in the family.
The writer not only gives the reader a glimpse into his family life , he opens the door and invites us in to have a seat.
This is not only a story about an indescribable murder, it's a love story that can survive.
To know the innocent and beautiful teenager

Thank you For sharping this incredibly honest and powerful book with us! I could not stop reading once I started! I remember hearing of your beautiful daughters story years back on our local news in Baltimore Maryland in the US! Very emotional!
The hardest book I have ever read. My heart goes out to Becky, the struggles she had growing up, foster care, the bullying, etc. Her father and stepmother were amazing to her, and all their children, just such a heart wrenching book to read and know it really happened. Rest in peace beautiful Becky, and comfort to Darren and Anjie.
This story is heatbreaking and shows how much love a parent has for there child.
The awful events that happend, the fact that it was kept hidden and that there was no emotion shown for it unreal.
Very heart breaking story
I don't have the answers and neither does the author. How can a family member plan and carry out such an evil murder ? This is an heart wrenching book you can't put down. You may feel anger, shed tears , and have this book on your mind for weeks to come, I know I won't forget it.
The author of this book if the father of the young girl murdered by her stepbrother, and it must have been heartbreaking to tell this story. He keeps the book balanced as much as one can. I truly hope that the evil person who did this will finally tell them the very things they need to know.
